Spice Store in Dubai...

If only fragrances, flavors and tactile textures could be downloaded onto web-sites... I had a chance to visit a spice-store during a recent visit to Dubai's Bastakiya neighborhood, which seemed to sell and display anything from saffron to sulfur on its textured and colorful, wall to wall, stacked shelves... Its somewhat cramped interior seemed to simultaneously release a barrage of recollections (catalyzed by the myriad of aromas) as well as an intriguing set of new sensorial discoveries, that we're subtly overwhelming in their own right and might take a while to fully digest...

Beautiful photos, Tom. As always. I love the little magenta flowers. I just want to dig my hand in there and throw them at people. i think the world would be a happier place if we had trained flower-strewers.

I always liked the idea put forth in Eddie Murphy's 'Coming to America' film where rose petals were strewed in front of the king of Zamunda as he walks along the somewhat grotty streets of 80:ies Queens...

I put forth a second vote for public flower-petal strewers (this might encourage people to even walk more - so I'm all for it)...
