Drizzling Day in Doha...


It's been raining here in Doha for now almost two days (?!) - a truly unique occurrence - and we're relishing every minute of it... Well, except when we're driving and have to deal with the foot-deep puddles (mini-lakes) aligning and dividing the drainless roads. But here in SUV country this remains only a minor annoyance...

The Extraordinary Ordinary - Wintry Muffin-Tops, Finland...


It's interesting how both snow and sand can, when present in quantity, 'buffer' - even out - their settings, providing an almost Pompeian dilution of details and features of the objects on which they lay. Granted, snow is usually seasonal whilst sand often occupies a bit more permanent, and thus perhaps more permeating, presence.

The included photos are probably a first submission of pictures from a series, all taken during a recent trip to Finland... As different as the context - in regards to their climate, nature vernacular and culture is - it's inviting to look for and speculate about the similarities between a country in northern Europe and a nation in the Gulf...
